MY STORY
"Getting through the darkness to find the light"
E. Davis hails from Reno, Nevada. He started writing songs on his keyboard and acoustic guitar in his bedroom in high school around 1984-1985 after being baptized in the waters of Eucalyptus Records and Mirabelli's, record stores that are now relics of The Biggest Little City in the World.
First assembling cassette tapes as The Club and Square Dorks, he finally settled on the name Catharsis and made five "albums" (on cassettes) in the 90's. He also dabbled in side projects under the names of Caligula and Blood.
After taking a short break from playing and writing, he decided to do so again in the late 90's and early 00's (around the time of his divorce) and started his one-person musical project, Striking Ghosts. He played his first-ever solo show at the Un-Urban Cafe in Santa Monica in July of 2001. He discovered his niche as he wrote about his personal life, his observations of the world, and different points of views in the form of character studies.
Much of his musicality and songwriting is informed by his mixed-race background; growing up in a predominantly white town; passion and adoration for the music that "kept him out of trouble" and opened his mind; and the domestic abuse and violence he suffered through and endured as a teenager.
As of 2020, Striking Ghosts has released 8 studio albums and 8 EPs as well as 8 non-album singles. Also available is OCTAGON (a B-sides compilation), VIOLATOR (a Depeche Mode covers album) and "Halloween" (originally by John Carpenter).

He has also done many "live" videos from Zebrahaus Studios, which are on the Striking Ghosts YouTube channel.

IS 2020, and later in the year near Halloween, MONSTERS was released, along with the topical single "Done with Kanye." In celebration of Peter Gabriel's first new original studio album in 21 years, the single "PBG" was released, and a very personal single "I AM BLACK" with its B-Side, "Are They Black?" was released for Black History Month in 2024.
